You and your child deserve to sleep well

        I am committed to helping you and your family get restful sleep. Quality sleep is a key factor in maintaining health, preventing disease, and living your best life. Research has shown that sleep habits formed in childhood can follow us into adulthood. I am here to help during pregnancy and start your children off on the right path for a lifetime of restful sleep.

      If you are a pregnant woman experiencing insomnia or an exhausted parent looking for support in getting your child to sleep, I can help! To resolve sleep challenges, I use a gentle and holistic approach that considers many elements of daily life including nutrition, self care, health and wellness, sunlight, and developing an optimal relaxation and sleep ritual to help you or your child obtain restful sleep.

Often when the wide array of factors are addressed that influence sleep, traditional sleep training is not needed. If we decide to add sleep training methods to your sleep plan, a gentle technique that is consistent with your family’s parenting philosophy and values will be used.

      I personally develop each sleep plan after a thorough conversation about you or your child's unique sleep challenges. I do not follow a one-size-fits-all approach. Each sleep plan is carefully created to fit the family’s beliefs, parenting style, personality, timeline, goals, and unique situation.

ABOUT CINDY DAVIES, MA, bc-dmt, PMH-C

     I first became interested in the field of sleep consulting after having my second son, who was up all night! I read many sleep training approaches, theories on sleep, books, blogs, talked to friends and pediatricians, and hired two different sleep trainers. However, no one seemed to be able to address enough pieces of the sleep puzzle to help my son and family get the sleep we needed. Thankfully, I stumbled on the work of Mar De Carlo, who approaches sleep from a holistic place, and things changed for us.

     Throughout my work with families, I have seen parents tasked with overwhelming expectations and realities and have had parents asking for additional support, validation, and encouragement. In 2021, I added Parent Coaching to my services after completing a program as an Applied Depths Coaching Practitioner.

I graduated with a BA in Psychology from Kalamazoo College and an MA in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling Psychology from Antioch University. I am a Certified Holistic Sleep Consultant and Certified Happiest Baby on the Block Educator. I have completed post-graduate training and earned certification in perinatal and postpartum mood disorders through Postpartum Support International and earned Board Certification through the American Dance Therapy Association. I have experience including working with children and families in foster care, parents and caregivers in creative movement groups, parents with twins and triplets, women with postpartum mood disorders, and many other populations.

     I currently live in Armada, Michigan with my husband, two sons, and two dogs. I am an avid reader love spending free time in the garden with my boys.

Are you tired of trying online parenting classes only to run out of steam after a few days without seeing lasting change? Parent Coaching can help. With a coach in your corner, you can rekindle your love for parenting. Coaching will support you in creating an environment where your children to thrive and where you can make sustainable, deep-rooted transformation.

When setting limits for your children or listening to them cry, do you find yourself overwhelmed or uncomfortable with their feelings? Do you set limits over and over, but find yourself letting them slide? We carry inherited beliefs from our own childhoods that can creep up and call out for attention when we are challenged by our children or feeling unsure as parents. These internal struggles can make consistency, comfort, ease, or feelings of satisfaction in parenting seem unattainable. Within the coaching container, you’ll experience a safe space to uncover the inherited beliefs and triggers that stand in the way of being completely authentic with your child. These triggers can lead us to parent reactively when our children display challenging behavior and strong emotions, setting limits from our own anger, fear, shame, or guilt. Coaching allows parents to peel away the triggers and blocks, listen to their inner voices, gain confidence to parent in alignment with their deeply-held values, and make decisions from the heart.

In my work with families, I have seen how difficult it is when parents don’t feel valued and supported, either by each other, their families, or their communities. They want to make lasting change, but might be unsure of how to sustain it. As parents, we work hard to make sure our children are seen, heard, and loved. As parents, we also have a need to be seen, heard, and loved. But it is hard to find the time, space, or safety. If we aren’t feeling emotionally supported, it’s much harder to be the parents we want to be.

In Parent Coaching, you will be welcomed into a safe, judgement-free relationship where you will:

  • Be supported in navigating the life-changing journey that is parenthood

  • Learn simple techniques to deal with common situations such as tantrums, sibling rivalry, power struggles, and separation anxiety

  • Feel confident in the limits you set, knowing they are not made out of anger, fear, guilt, or shame

  • Gain more confidence in areas of parenting you now find hard

  • Unpack fears that may be holding you back

  • Recognize triggers and negative thought patterns that fuel the cycle of shame and guilt and learn to address them effectively so that you can be more present with your child

  • Use conflict with your child as a way to build trust, understanding, and emotional intimacy

  • Feel comfortable with all of your child’s feelings and tears

  • Experience more love, joy, satisfaction, cooperation, and connection in your relationship with your child

  • Feel excited about parenting again
